World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of their base. While this is generally a good thing however, it could have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their stats. This can increase the base defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading, as well as the values of these stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will hit 3 times less often because it's an absolute statistic.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button that has circling arrows in the menu for items. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or connect it to an account's status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense your character has, the more value you will get from each point of health you have, so it's important to upgrade your armor as much as you can.
To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total each of which requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and mastered the fountain that corresponds and then you can contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each level will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, as an example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in cold environments with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock some perks on your armor. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the armor on your chest and helmets to allow you to get around a few monsters.
Potions
Potions are bottled substances that, when consumed, give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a table or the Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades is dependent on the type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potion, right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll yield when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not be degraded until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For example the splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will draw out the liquid, and then refill the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone is also added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as potion of leaping, decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket could be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't important such as a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is a way to show affection or friendship between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons, armor, and potions. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Unlike other item upgrade s trinkets are able to be exchanged at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a brand new trinket. It is possible to upgrade players for just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded once the old ones are no longer needed and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that will not be replaced in the near future (for instance, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players must also consider the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Once they have become useless, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying the new one.
